Day 1

The first day I arrived at 08:45 thinking that I was supposed to meet my supervisor at that time. But arriving at the museum, I realized I was supposed to meet her at 09:30. To spend that free time, I wandered around the gift shop. At 09:30, my internship supervisor arrived, Mrs. Nicole Temple Vice President of the Youth Education Program. We went to the lower level of the museum, and I began to sort some promotional postcards. This was done while listening to My Chemical Romance, making the hour seem much shorter. Afterwards, I helped organize information packets for teachers so that they can do programs with the museum. After two hours of this, Mrs. Temple and I went to lunch as well as 5 of her colleagues. After lunch, Mrs. Temple let me explore the museum for 20 minutes. Since I have been to the museum countless times, I decided to see my favorite exhibition, the rocks and minerals exhibition. Each rock glowed with such a mysterious and beautiful aura, each clamoring for my attention. The twenty minutes seemed like one, and I returned to the lower level. There, I finished the information packets and I was told to help organize items in the materials collections. When I entered, I was in shock. The collection was a giant room filled with all sorts of curiosities, everything from glue and wire, to preserved snakes and dinosaur fossils. My job was to organize a tiny section of the room. It was a small corridor lined with shelves full of all sorts of craft materials. Organizing was no easy task, and I was greatly relieved when one of Mrs. Temple’s colleagues offered for me to open boxes. After a fun yet tiring day, I got home at 16:00, and was very excited to return.

The Journey Begins

Hello,

For school, I am going to go intern at the Houston Museum of Natural Science (hmns) for five days. It starts in two days, and I am quite excited about the experience.

Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world.
